EuroTier – the world’s leading trade fair for animal production – is not just an international brand that serves as one of the global platforms in its sector for innovations in the world of animal husbandry. EuroTier caters for practically all species in animal farming along every step of the value chain. In keeping with DLG’s mission to create a global platform that enables the industry to access key regions directly, gain insights into the markets and to make the EuroTier brand truly international, in 2022, EuroTier Middle East will be launched for the first time in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The Market

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The city is home to the majority of the population of the UAE. The Emirate is the wealthiest of all the Arab emirates und is characterized by the third largest per capita income in the world (status: 2018). Even though it possesses sufficient oil reserves, the Emirate soon started to engage in alternative and sustainable economic activities. After the UAE was founded in 1971, areas of desert were reclaimed nationwide and converted into agricultural land. Dates are the key agricultural product. In the field of animal husbandry the traditional sector of fishing still plays an important role. Besides this, in the oasis city al-Ain and other areas with sufficient groundwater, animal husbandry is pursued as well as crop production. In the recent past, poultry breeding in particular has been stepped up. That is why in addition to the original forms of animal husbandry – camel, cattle, sheep and goat – poultry farming has moved into the focus of the local government and there is now an acknowledged need not only to expand this sector, but also to optimize the keeping and breeding conditions through access to the latest technologies and knowledge.
