The Exhibition

DLG Forest Days is an outdoor forestry event where exhibitors give live demonstrations of their products and services to a professional audience, alongside the more traditional tradeshow stands. The Specials are a particular highlight of the DLG Forest Days; action-packed demonstrations involving direct comparisons of selected machines with running commentary by independent moderators.  The technical programme will be underpinned by a series of interesting forums and debates hosted by the Brilon Sympo-sium on Woodland Management. The first DLG Forest Days in May 2015 were a tremendous success, attracting 164 exhibitors and around 10,000 visitors. Official Website

The Market

The market for forestry equipment in Germany is complex; with continuing strong demand, especially for softwood, timber prices have remained stable and consequently there is no shortage of willingness to invest in high-capacity replacement machines. However, following the boom in recent years, demand for fire wood splitters, especially in the semiprofessional sector, has slowed down considerably in the face of lower oil prices. Manufacturers of hardware and inputs for forestry manag-ment, conservation and replanting are driving new market requirements: Stabilising sites and restructuring woodland to mitigate climate change, with the associated need for greater investment, are the greatest challenges facing the industry in the medium term. In the service sector, the effects of the cartel decision by a German court will stimulate demand for alternative management systems and consultancy services.
