The Exhibition

At "agro AgroTech Ethiopia", the focus will be on agricultural technology and machinery, tractors, seeds, animal production, horticulture, greenhouse technology, service companies, organisations and trade media. The visitor target groups are made up of small and large farmers and animal breeders from the region. The fair takes place parallel to "food + bev tec" and "food + hospitality Ethiopia". The "agro AgroTech Ethiopia" takes place annually in Addis Ababa in the Millennium Hall. It is aimed equally at visitors from English-speaking countries around Ethiopia, but especially at national trade visitors from all parts of the country. Since 2017, "agro Ethiopia" has been organised by Fairtrade as part of "agrofood Ethiopia". The "agro AgroTech Ethiopia" is run in cooperation with the "DLG". (German Agricultural Society) and fairtrade. The two partners will contribute their know-how in agricultural trade fairs and a comprehensive supporting programme. Official Website

The Market

Ethiopia is the second largest importer of agricultural technology in Central and East Africa with 31 million euros (VDMA). The country is also the largest economy in East and Central Africa and with growth rates of between 6 and 10% is also one of the fastest growing economies in the world. According to the World Bank, Ethiopian agriculture accounts for around 48% of gross domestic product (GDP) and 85% of exports, making it the cornerstone of the economy and the largest potential source of growth and prosperity. The main products are coffee (Africa's largest producer), maize (Africa's second largest producer), dwarf millet (Teff, the world's largest producer), wheat, sorghum and other cereals, pulses (such as beans), oilseeds, potatoes, sugar cane and vegetables. Ethiopian agricultural production has grown by 5% to 9% annually between 2011 and 2017. (Source: VDMA) Ethiopia is building 17 integrated agrofood industry parks worth US$ 1.5 billion.
