AGRITECHNICA ASIA live – Field Demonstrations of Agricultural Machinery For the first time, DLG will bring AGRITECHNICA ASIA out of the exhibition halls onto the field: Together with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific as well as professional partners such as the World Bank and the Myanmar Rice Federation, the 1st edition of `AGRITECHNICA ASIA live´ will take place in Myanmar from 29-30 November 2019. This year’s topic: Mechanisation for Sustainable Agriculture. On the first day, the program is made up of a field demo and a networking dinner, followed by a range of seminars on the second day. Besides presenting their machinery and agricultural solutions at information booths right next to the field, the exhibitors have the opportunity to show it live in operation on the field. Ideal because of its proximity to many decision makers, the field site is located in Takkone Township. It is only 50 km from Nay Pyi Taw, the capital city of Myanmar. Government representatives, agricultural decision makers as well as approximately 5,000 farmers are located in this area. As one of the irrigation scheme sites of the Agricultural Development Support Project funded by the World Bank, the field demonstrations will have a large multiplier effect. Around 1.000 farmers, machinery operators/ owners, mechanization service providers, agricultural associations, researchers and technicians as well decision and policy makers are expected to visit AGRITECHNICA ASIA live Official WebsiteThe Market
With 18% of the GDP and covering about 60% of the labour force, agriculture is the backbone of Myanmar’s economy. The agro-based economy is dominated by rice counting as the world’s ninth biggest exporter. In Myanmar, rapid mechanization is underway. Mechanical land preparation is now common-place, due to thriving machine rental markets, falling equipment prices, and better financing options. Sales of almost all categories of agricultural machinery increased during the last years. Thus, Myanmar holds a high potential for international agricultural machinery manufacturers.
